CBCS vs Pre-CBCS Percentage Conversion

CBCS marksheets usually show CGPA and need a university-specific conversion formula. Older pre-CBCS marksheets often already show marks or percentage, so applying a CGPA multiplier again can create an incorrect number during verification.

Use CGPA conversion when

  • Your consolidated marksheet shows CGPA.
  • Your university publishes a multiplier or equivalence rule.
  • The recruiter or form asks for percentage equivalent.

Use printed percentage when

  • Your marksheet already gives aggregate percentage.
  • You studied in a pre-CBCS marks-based batch.
  • The university has not issued a CGPA record for your batch.

Check Your University Formula

Start with the university-specific calculator instead of applying a generic multiplier. The correct rule depends on the institution, batch, and transcript format.
