Some GTU students confuse the x 9.5 formula with an older GTU-specific formula of (CGPA - 0.5) x 10 discussed in certain coaching materials. The CGPA x 9.5 formula is the most commonly accepted conversion used across Gujarat placement portals and state recruitment forms.
GTU uses the term backlog for pending failed subjects; Gujarat state recruitment notifications, including GPSC, frequently require no backlog at the time of application, so clearing backlogs before applying is strongly advised.
GPSC (Gujarat Public Service Commission) and GSSSB forms require percentage as per the university conversion policy; GTU students should use CGPA x 9.5 and carry a copy of the conversion circular for document verification.
6.3 x 9.5 = 59.85%, which rounds to approximately 60% in casual use but may fail strict automated filters.
GTU has issued internal guidance recommending CGPA x 9.5 for conversion, consistent with the AICTE-recommended formula. Keep the conversion circular with official documents when required.
No. 7.0 x 9.5 = 66.5%, which is above 60%. To achieve exactly 60%, you need a CGPA of approximately 6.32 at GTU.
